Vittorio Grigolo is an Italian operatic tenor. He was born in Arezzo on February 19, 1977 and raised in Rome where he studied singing at Schola Puerorum cantorum of the Sistine Chaple. Son of an opera lover, Vittorio began singing by the age of four. One day, while he was in a waiting room, he was heard casually intoning the Ave Maria and encouraged to audition at the Sistine Chapel. Thus began his successful career.

At just thirteen years old, he made his debut playing the Pastorello in a performance of Tosca at Teatro dell'Opera in Rome with Luciano Pavarotti. In 1998 his fame began to cross national borders with the role of Don Narciso in “Il Turco in Italia” by Gioacchino Rossini. In 2000 at the age of 23, he was the youngest tenor in Italian history to sing at the Teatro alla Scala for the opening concert of the Verdi year, under the direction of Maestro Riccardo Muti. In 2010 she made his overseas debut in the role of Rodolfo in La Bohème on stage at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. In 2019 he participated in the Italian television program Amici di Maria De Filippi as artistic director.

Despite his controversial figure, Vittorio Grigolo is an exceptional artist, often nicknamed “the prince of tenors” and “the main heir of Luciano Pavarotti”. He sang alongside the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Luciano Pavarotti and James Taylor and showed his talent from a very young age.

These days there is a lot of talk about him because of the amazing success of Gounod's Roméo et Juliette staged on January 15, 2020 at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, and produced by The Metropolitan Opera in New York. Grigolo’s performance was absolutely outstanding to the point that many spectators were moved and many more asked for an encore.
